Back to the Future

Well look who finally decided to blog again after uh...well. Yeah.  Any way I am going to do my best to blog so that I can keep up with all the cute and wonderful things that happen on a daily basis with my two sweet kiddos. Yes, now there are two. I will post about all of the things that you have missed over the past few years. I am glad to be doing this again. It was therapy for me before. Lord knows I need some therapy of some sort.

28 years ago.....

Tonight I was wishing my younger cousin a Happy Birthday on Facebook. As I was typing, I remembered where I was 28 years ago when he was born. I was in Panama City Beach, Florida. I was only 3 years old. It has to be one of my earliest memories. I can remember my mother talking on the phone. She was so excited that her only sister had just had her first baby. I remember her talking about how excited she was to get home and see him. The next time my aunt was pregnant..... I don't think we left the state...unless we were going to my grandparents 7 miles across the state line. My mother hated that she wasn't there to see the little booger when he was born.
Now 28 years later...he is a grown man, engaged to beautiful woman. It is amazing how fast the years go by. Sometimes I wish I was still 3 years old and was in Panama City Beach playing in the waves and the sand with my Wonder woman bathing suit on....or maybe my Strawberry Shortcake bathing suit. Those were some of the best memories of my life.
My brother and I played for endless hours in the sand and in the waves. He was my lifeguard. He would take me out so far on a cheap raft and we would ride the waves into the beach. Those times were so much fun. The funny thing is I never knew it was a cheap raft....it was the best. My parents would take us to a store to get a float or a raft to play with in the water. We always got a cheap one so that we could just deflate it and not have to carry it back home. I always got to choose which color I wanted. One year I got blue and my brother chose orange. I can still picture those rafts in my mind. One year he got a raft that looked like an inflatable boat. It had ropes around the side for you to hold onto it. It didn't turn out to be as much fun as the long flat rafts we were used to.
The last few times that I have been to the beach, I never see people in the water on the rafts. Most kids are playing with boogie boards. Man....they just don't know what they are missing. :)

I wish a Ford and a Chevy would still last ten years.....

I wish a buck was still silver
it was back when the country was strong
Back before Elvis
before Viet Nam war came along

Before the Beatles and 'Yesterday'
when a man could still work and still would
Is the best of the free life behind us?
Are the good times really over for good?

An are we rollin down hill
Like a snowball headed for hell?
With no kinda chance for the flag
or the Liberty bell

I wish a Ford and a Chevy
would still last ten years like they should
Is the best of the free life behind us?
Are the good times really over for good?

I wish a coke was still cola
and a joint was a bad place to be
And it was back before Nixon
lied to us all on tv

Before microwave oves
when a girl could still cook and still would
Is the best of the free life behind us now?
Are the good times really over for good?

Are we rollin down hill
like a snowball headed for hell?
With no kinda chance for the flag
or the Liberty bell

I wish a Ford and a Chevy
would still last ten years
like they should
Is the best of the free life behind us now?
Are the good times really over for good?

Stop rollin down hill like a snowball headed for hell
Stand up for the flag and let's all ring the Liberty bell
Let's make a Ford and a Chevy last ten years like they should
'Cause the best of the free life is still yet to come
An the good times aren't over for good

Where has the time gone?????

It has been so long since I have been able to post. There is only one reason for this : SCHOOL! This past spring semester was very busy. It almost killed me but thankful I made it through. I have been going non-stop since January. I had a mini-session class in May, summer session class in June, and now I have two classes for the July summer session. I am looking forward to August. I will have a short three week break but it is going to pleasant. I know that you are thinking....WHY so much school?? Because if I spread the classes over the shorter sessions, they go by quick and in the fall I will only have 12 hours. That means 3 classes that are in class and 1 online class. That means I might actually have a life in the fall.....maybe.

I am going to do my best to update more often. I really love blogging and sharing my life with everyone. It is a great way to document events that I might not remember.

So look forward to more posts in the near future!

We love Snow!!!!!!!!

Dancing in the snow!!

Our house

Look who is trying to eat the snow!

Well it finally did it....it snowed! Hooray!

I love watching it snow. I think it is one of the most beautiful things that God created.
In Alabama, we don't get a great deal of the stuff. However, when we do get it we sure do enjoy it. This was the first good snow that Dalton has been able to enjoy. We had one a few years back. It snowed at night and it was more than what we got today. He was too little to remember it.

We went outside and played for awhile. His favorite thing was throwing snowballs at me. He would just giggle and run when he thought I was going to hit him.

The next few days are going to be very cold and I am sure the roads and everything else will be frozen. Maybe we can thaw out on Monday. :)

I have to share this cute story that my daddy told me. When he was about Dalton's age or younger he lived in Ohio with his parents. They had a huge snow. He said that my grandmother took him to the window to show him the snow and he said "Cake". I am sure she giggled. I assume that he thought it looked like icing. I have always loved that story.

If ya think about it....it kinda is like icing. We live in a beautiful world with grass (our cake)...and then once in awhile we get the cake with icing too! That is a little deep....but I know some of you will understand what I mean.

I hope that everyone who got snow has enjoyed this beautiful day.....I know we sure have. :)
