Garden Time!

Today was suppose to be clean the house day. I had already made my mind up that I was going to get this house back into order. It hasn't been in any type of order in a couple of weeks. I am to the point that it is driving me crazy. However, I got an early morning call from my mother and it was requested that I go with my daddy to my grandparents and help him plant the garden.
My first thought was "there goes the house again". I did agree to go and help him though.
My thought is if I am going to eat it...I might as well help raise it.
I am really glad that I did because what I thought was going to be a bummed day outside turned into a wonderful day.
After we got to my grandparents and got in the garden we heard the wonderful sound of thunder. So daddy took a moment to analyze the clouds and to waste some valuable time by saying "I'm not working down here in the thunder and lightning!". I laughed and said "I don't see any lightning". There wasn't any lightning. So after he fixed the rows, I put out the fertilizer and then we heard more thunder. He kept standing around looking at the clouds. Finally he said "If we are going to get this done I guess we better get started". It did start sprinkling some. We got 30 tomato plants in the ground and started working on the bell pepper plants. He got the holes dug for them and the sprinkling began again. By the time we finished ....it was falling a flood!
I was soaked from head to toe and had muddy hands. I am going to be like the little red hen this year....I planted the majority of the tomatos and bell pepper..so if they make, I better get some. Those that don't help - don't need to be gettin in my garden!! [I am kidding. I am only making this joke for my mother when she reads this :) I know you would help if you could be there when we are....so don't ruffle your feather's at me- momma hen! lol]
It was great though. I put a fire under my tail and so I came home and started digging holes for everything.
I planted 2 tomatoe and 2 bell pepper plants at my house. I dug up a shrub and moved it to another location. I went to mother's and stole some of her stella's and planted 8 sections of them.
I am totally exhausted but it was so much fun. It's like being a kid again and making mud pies!!
I am happy as a lark in the sunshine. It's the most productive day I have had in weeks. Well that kinda made me sound lazy. It just seems that every day that I begin to do something I have planned, something else comes up and I get nothing done.

We are going to finish planting tomorrow if the weather holds up. We still have more peppers, squash, cucumbers, and Merritt corn to plant. I hope there is some okra too. There wasn't anything mentioned about that....but what is a garden without okra??
I will update on the next garden adventure.
