Life Happens

This morning over breakfast I was looking at the schedules for summer and fall trying to decide which is the best time to take my classes. It occured to me that I only have 4 more basic classes left and I will be ready for my elem. education classes. It was a special moment for me. I took a minute to smile and breathe and it felt so good.
If I had gone full time last fall and this spring I would be finishing with basics in May. However that is not what was meant to be. "Everything has it's time and it's purpose...".
At 18 I didn't know what I really wanted to do. I wasn't focused person on anything. I liked the idea of nursing and the idea of teaching. I couldn't decided what I liked best.
I have worked in 2 different hospitals in the last 10 years. I enjoyed what I did but it just never felt right. It wasn't until after Dalton was born that I realized that I would really enjoy being a teacher. There is a special feeling that fills my heart when I teach him something new and he gets it. I know that he is my child and not every child is going to learn from me the way my own child does. I want to try. I already have ideas of things that I want to teach to kids and I hope that they learn something when they leave my classroom....someday.
When I was younger I had a different set of friends and they had different ideas about life. I guess you never know what you want to do with your life until you find yourself.
I hope that makes sense.
When I met Josh I kinda found myself. He is a little different than me sometimes but he changed me in so many ways too. I see life in a new perspective. My mother made a quote one time that "Josh was the one thing that I never got tired of". When we had Dalton my life changed again. I wanted different things than I did before.
So I am about to turn 30 and will hopefully finish my degree in a few years. I look back on the past few years since graduating high school and I think where did the time go. I know that without the experiences that I have been through over these years I wouldn't be the person I am today. I don't regret any of them..good or bad. If we never had anything bad happen to us how would we learn to be anything different?? How would we mend into a better person?? Just think about it- if we live a life that is good all the time, to me it's like we never grow more than what we have always been. I hope that made sense.
So from all of this I know that it's okay to be almost 30 and working on a degree. I know who I am, what I want to be, where I want to go, and that satisfies my day.
It's okay if you don't know what you want to be at 18...let life happen, find who you really are, and become the person you want to be.
