This is not the best picture of Papaw Daniel and me...
but it is probally the last one we took together. I stayed with
Papaw and Granny until I started to school. I was 17 years old
when he died. I miss him and Granny terribly and they have
been gone from here alot of years. Everytime I hear this
Randy Travis song I think of Papaw. As a kid I thought he hung the moon
and walked on water.
He Walked on Water by Randy Travis
He wore starched white shirts buttoned at the neck
And he'd sit in the shade and watch the chickens peck
His teeth were gone, but what the heck
I thought that he walked on water.
Said he was a cowboy when was young
He could handle the rope, and he was good with a gun
And my momma's daddy was his oldest son
And I thought he walked on water.
If the story's told, only heaven knows
but his hat seem to me like an old halo
And although his wings, they were never seen
I thought that he walked on water.
Then he tied a cord to the end of a mop
He said "Son here's a pony, keep her at a trot"
And I'd ride in circles while he laughed alot
And I'd flop down beside him
He was ninety years old in sixty three
And I loved him and he loved me
And Lord I cried the day he died
Cause I thought that he walked on water
If the story's told only heaven knows
but his hat seemed to me like an old halo
And although his wings, they were never seen
I thought that he walked on water.
